The London Marathon is one of our biggest fundraising events, and in 2026, we were incredibly grateful to have four amazing people running in support of DFSG. I\u2019ve been living with Duchenne since I was born. My older brother, Noah, was diagnosed at three. Ever since, our family has faced some challenges. Charities like the DFSG have been incredibly helpful in supporting us through these difficulties. Now that my brother and I are older, we feel it\u2019s our turn to give back and help a charity that has always been so kind to us, so they can assist more families like ours. My aim is to run all the major marathons for the charity, and this is the first step.<\/p>\n

In April 2026 I will be proudly representing the Duchenne Family Support Group, running the London Marathon. This is a charity that has become very important to me in the last year, since taking a job as a carer for someone who has the condition. From organising events and days out, to offering advice, the DFSG creates a safe space and community for those with the condition and for those around them.<\/p>\n

Before this opportunity I have always pushed myself, with running, cycling, whatever would challenge me both mentally and physically, so this event has definitely been on my bucket list and to get the opportunity to support and raise money for such a worthy cause, and challenge myself at the same time, feels very special.<\/p>\n

Running has brought me a huge amount of joy. I\u2019m a very athletic and physical person and I\u2019ve always loved sport \u2014 particularly cycling and BMX \u2014 but running feels different. It\u2019s such a universal sport.<\/p>\n

My connection to the DFSG is deeply personal. A good friend of mine, Daniel, is living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Supporting the DFSG gives me, and my friend Ed (who is also running for the DFSG), a meaningful way to stand behind him and others with the same condition.<\/p>\n

So far, I\u2019ve completed two half marathons, one in Eastbourne and one in Cairo, but this will be my very first full marathon. That makes it particularly meaningful to me. To take on my first marathon while raising money for the DFSG, and for Daniel, feels like a powerful milestone.<\/p>\n

I would like to run marathon in support of the DFSG because my son, Sam (19) is also affected by DMD. Taking part in this challenge is my way of\u00a0 giving back to a charity that provide such a vital support to families like ours.<\/p>\n

Living with Duchenne affects the whole family. It requires emotional strength, patience and constant learning. At times the journey can feel overwhelming, but the amazing support of the dedicated professionals, and communities like the DFSG, reminds us that we are not alone. Their guidance and resources have been invaluable in helping families like ours navigate this complex condition. I\u2019m so excited for this opportunity and it feels even more special to be doing it in support of the charity that is so close to my heart.<\/p>\n
